ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will assist the Field Arborist and/or Tree Worker with specialized, skilled and semi-skilled arboriculture tasks, including ground based trimming and pruning trees; rigging, winching, falling, and heavy labouring to remove trees and stumps; and, planting, staking, and fertilizing new trees. In addition, you will report any indication of tree hazards, pests and diseases; apply herbicides and pesticides as directed; operate a chipping machine, power tools and hand tools; and perform other general parks maintenance tasks. Further, you may be required to act as Lead Hand by assigning, and supervising the work of a small group of subordinates engaged in routine arboriculture and natural park land maintenance tasks. At times, you also will assist other parks crews in skilled and semi-skilled laboring work as required. What you’ll do on a typical day:
Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight
Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift and by hand
Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies
Work in a safe, efficient manner, adhering to company safety policies
Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments
Work on a dock that is not climate-controlled for extended periods of time
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
To be at least 18 years of age
Ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator
Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends, due to varying freight volumes
It’d be great if you also have:
Dock/warehouse experience in the transportation industry
Forklift experience in a freight/less-than-truckload environment
Experience loading and unloading trailers
Desire to succeed with strong attention to detail
This job requires the ability to:
Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 70 lbs. occasionally)
Sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including a pallet jack, forklift and by hand

Position Summary

If the incumbent resides in the province of Quebec, you must be bilingual (French and English). In addition to the usual factors used in the selection process, all candidates for positions that require driving as a core competency require a valid driver's license (e.g. Class 5,G, or 1[AZ]) and a driving record with two or fewer violations and/or accidents in the 24 months prior to the date of application. Further, candidates will be assessed through careful consideration of: 1) their current driver's abstract; 2) their performance during application interviews; and 3) their performance on any driver competency assessments administered
